Lianna joined Changing the Story as Project Manager (maternity leave cover) in April 2020. Prior to CTS, she was the Africa Programme Coordinator at PEN International, a writer's organisation that promotes literature and defends freedom of expression. She worked for a number of years in the Africa division at Human Rights Watch, and has experience working with community organisations in Canada, the UK and Cameroon.
She has a BA in International Development and History and an MA in Human Rights from the University of Sussex.
