Katie is a PhD Researcher on the Changing the Story project, based at the University of Leeds. Katie has a background in research in International Development Studies, specialising in education and youth. Before joining the project, Katie worked as Junior Researcher at the University of Amsterdam on two projects spanning 17 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Central America and Europe. This included a project commissioned by SOS Children’s Villages into the social exclusion of vulnerable youth and working as research partner in a Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded SRHR alliance, evaluating programs on early marriage. Katie continues to lecture in Education and International Development. Katie completed her Masters degree in International Development Studies, where her fieldwork and thesis explored the needs and challenges of displaced young people living on the Thailand-Myanmar border and the role of educational initiatives in meeting these needs.
