PhotoVoice as an educational tool for intercultural learning and peacebuilding

This AHRC-GCRF funded project aimed to explore the potential of photographs, photography training and photography exhibitions for peacebuilding between refugees and host community members in Istanbul, Turkey, Johannesburg, South Africa and Oruchinga Refugee Camp, Uganda. The refugee and host community youth came together to discuss, explore and capture what a peaceful life looks like and how peace can be promoted.

All displayed photos are taken by the youth in world’s largest refugee-hosting three countries despite the escalating anti-refugee sentiment across the world. These photos are displayed in Istanbul-Turkey, Johannesburg-South Africa, Oruchinga refugee camp- Uganda and Lancaster, UK between July 2019-December 2019.
